' Washington, D.C. 20555 Dr. James H. Carpenter Atomic Safety and Licensing Board U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 In the Matter of Carolina Power & Light Company and North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency (Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant)

Docket No. 50-400 OL Administrative Judges Kelley, Bright and Carpenter:

On July 9,1984 Applicants served on the Board and the parties a draft copy of the public information brochure to be distributed to persons within the plume exposure pathway.EPZ of the Harris plant. At that time, Applicants indicated that information to be included on several pages of the brochure would be available at a later date. By letter dated April 16, 1985, Applicants provided the Board and the parties with copies of the EPZ map and the evacuation route chart.

Enclosed is a copy of page 13 of the brochure (the chart of the schools within the EPZ and their associated Evacuation Shelters). In addition, copies of pages 1,5, and 12 are enclosed, highlighted to reflect certain revisions to those pages. The highlighted

-revisions primarny reflect a recent change of policy by the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management, which gives the parents of children attending school within the EPZ the option of evacuating directly to the Evacuation Shelter for their children's -

school in.an emergency, and registering there with their children. (Prior planning required such parents to first register at the Evacuation Shelter assigned to their residence before going to their school children's Evacuation Shelter to pick them up). A few of the highlighted changes are minor clarifications or revisions necessitated by the repagination of the brochure described in Applicants' April 16,1985 letter.

Respectfully submitted, Oh 0 [%
