1S EQUIPMENT SElSMICALLY ADEQUATE 7 ygg COMMENTS SRTs are A. Al-Dabbagh and W. Djordjevic - 8/17/93.

REF: Dwg.11405-S-312 and Byron Jackson Pump Dwg. 2C-4825.

Capacity:

BSCav.2: The cantilever shaft = 19'-10" < 20'-0". (REF.)

Anchorage:

l The pump is anchored by 4 - 1.25" cast in place anchor bolts, in a square bolting pattern of 32". The motor weighs 2730# and has a C.G. of (58/2)+36+1=66". The anchur analysis will consider 2 lumped masses for the pump, the first weight is 6890#*(3/23)=900# and a C.G. of (36/2)+1=19" above the floor. The second weight is 6890# - 900# = 5990# and a C.G. of (20/2)*12-1=119" below the floor elevation. See attached sketch for additional anchorage information.

l Since 3% damping curves don't exist, use 5% damping curves and multiply the minimum allowable load factor at 5% damping, by a reduction factor to attain the minimum allowable load factor at 3% damping. The reduction factor is proportional to the ratio of the peak acceleration at 5% damping divided by the peak acceleration at 3%

damping. The peak acceleration at 5% damping is 1.36929. The peak acceleration at 3% damping was calculated by converting the 5% damping response spectra to a power spectra and then converting that into a 3% damping responce spectra, yeilding a peak value of 1.7981g. Therefore the reduction ratio is (1.3692g /1.7981g) = 0.7615.

l The minimum allowable load factor at 5% damping is 1.34, therefore the minimum allowable load factor at 3% is (1.34 x 0.7615) = 1.02 > 1.00, therefore the anchorage is adequate.
