E. D. Swartz letter to J. G. Keppler dated October 6, 1983.

Dear Mr. Keppler:

Reference (a) provided information concerning a deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) regarding the Anaconda flexible conduit at our Byron and Braidwood Stations.

The purpose of this letter is to clarify the description of corrective actions taken to resolve this issue at our Braidwood Station and provide an updated status.

This issue has been closed at our Byron Station.

This letter is considered to be a Final Report.

Status of Corrective Action All Anaconda type NWC and NPW flexible conduit (previously supplied under Specification F/L 2790) installed in Unit 1 containment will be replaced with stainless steel flexible conduit or modified by one of the two " taping" procedures described on the electrical installation drawings.

In addition, all liquid tight flexible metal conduit furnished on safety related and non-safety related local instrument racks located in the Unit 1 and Unit 2 containments will be replaced in the same manner.

The electrical contractor has repaired or replaced approximately 50 percent of the safety related flexible conduit in Unit 1 Containment (this does not include instrumentation racks).

It is expected to take approximately four months to complete this effort.

The electrical contractor is currently in the process of identifying the non-safety related flexible conduits and instrument racks in containment Unit I which need to be reworked.
