Dear Mr. Keppler:

References (a) through (c) provided information concerning a potential deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) regarding the adequacy of ASME Material Procurement Documentation at our Braidwood Station. The purpose of this letter is to provide an updated status of the corrective actions taken to resolve this issue. This letter is considered to be an Interim Report.

c Status of Corrective Actions As previously reported in Reference (c), the documentation review for materials since October 27, 1981 was over 90% complete.

This review is still in progress and has been ext. ended to confirm

.that ASME site material purchases since September 1984 are in compliance with the ASME Code.

Of the estimated 4000 heat / lot numbers, an estimated 1800 require additional documentation from the manufacturer / supplier or corrective action to associated records. At this time, approximately fifty percent of these 1800 heat / lot numbers have been resolved. Also, at this time, an estimated three percent of the total heat / lot numbers require some other corrective action to bring the documentation into conformance with ASME Section III requirements. Commonwealth Edison Company is presently working with vendors to obtain this information or resolve the technical M questions. glk 42 .
