Subject:
Dear Dr. Murley:
During a meeting March 20, 1985 at Colt Industries Fairbanks Morse Division involving participants from Fairbanks Morse, Basler Electric, and Louis Allis, ve were appraised of a potential long term problem involving transformers supplied as part of the voltage. regulating equipment for the Hope Creek Emergency Diesel Generator System.
(Reference Basler Electric letter March 18, 1985 to Mr. James L. Keppler, Regional Administrator, USNRC Region 3.) The source of the potential concern resulted from thermal qualification limitations and consequent enclosure ventilstion requirements impoced on the control equipment. A subsequent audit of our files confirms that this potential concern may be valid.
We are in process of scheduling meetings with the parties involved in this project, Bechtel Corporation, Colt Industries Fairbanks Morse Division, and Basler Electric, to complete a joint analysis of the scope of the potential problem and we vill file a report, if necessary, with your office upon completion of those meetings.
Sincerely, l'<!ALb H. H. Leusink Vice President, Engineering HHL:sd cc: Louis Allis:
