SUMMARY
OF I
MONTHLY OPERATING EXPERIENCE UNIT 1 JUNE 1996 June 1 The Unit began the report period shutdown in Mode 3 following a <
reactor trip on May 31, 1996. The reactor trip occurred following a turbine trip which resulted during solid state protection system (SSPS) slave relay testing of a turbine trip function.
June 2 Following satisfactory troubleshooting and review of the reactor trip event, reactor startup was commenced at 0254 hours0.00294 days
0.0706 hours
4.199735e-4 weeks
9.6647e-5 months
. Mode 2 was entered at 0302 hours0.0035 days
0.0839 hours
4.993386e-4 weeks
1.14911e-4 months
and the reactor was taken critical at 0343 hours0.00397 days
0.0953 hours
5.671296e-4 weeks
1.305115e-4 months
. At 1624 hours0.0188 days
0.451 hours
0.00269 weeks
6.17932e-4 months
, the main unit generator outaut breakers were closed synchronizing the Unit to the electrical grid. Output was then escalated towards ,
approximately 100%. At 2156 hours0.025 days
0.599 hours
0.00356 weeks
8.20358e-4 months
with output at approximately 28%, a power reduction was commenced to enable opening of the "C" main feedwater regulating valve (MFRV) isolation valve which was thermally bound shut. The MFRV isolation valve was opened at 2245 hours0.026 days
0.624 hours
0.00371 weeks
8.542225e-4 months
and the power reduction was stopped at approximately 24% output.
June 3 Return to full power was commenced at 0001 hours1.157407e-5 days
2.777778e-4 hours
1.653439e-6 weeks
3.805e-7 months
. At 1600 hours0.0185 days
0.444 hours
0.00265 weeks
6.088e-4 months
, the analog rod position indication (ARPI) for control rod K-6 was declared inoperable due to reading greater than the technical specification limit of 12 steps. At 1655 hours0.0192 days
0.46 hours
0.00274 weeks
6.297275e-4 months
, the ARPI readmg for control rod K-6 was returned to within 12 steps and subsequently returned to service.
June 4 The Unit achieved approximately 100% output at 0300 hours0.00347 days
0.0833 hours
4.960317e-4 weeks
1.1415e-4 months
.
June 5 The Unit operated at a nominal value of 100% output for the through remainder of the report period.
