Subject:

Catawba Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Supplement to Technical Specification Amendinent Catawba Unit 1, Cycle 7 Reload In a letter dated April 13,1992, changes to the Catawba Technical Specifications to support Unit 1 Cycle '7 operation were submitted to the NRC. In a letter dated August 20,1992,.

the NRC requested that Catawba submit revisions of an administrative and editorial nature to certain Technical Specification (TS) pages in the original application. Attach'nent I contains the list of requested revisions along with Catawba's response. The markul-up Technical Specification pages that reflect these revisions are included as Attachment II.

The original TS amendment application also contained changes to certain containment isolation valve maximum isolation times which am listed in Catawba TS Table 3.6-2a.

Specifically, these changes were to the response times for the feedwater isolation valves, main steam isolation valves, and main stetun isolation bypass valves. Based on discussions with the NRC Staff, Catawba is requesting that these changes to Table 3-6-2a be withdrawn. These changes will be n: submitted with additionaljustification at later date for both Units 1 and 2.

Per discussions with the NRC Staff, a revised mark-up for FSAR Table 15-26 is included in Attachment II.

Very tmly yours, k h.

s ATTACIIMENT I The original NRC questions and the response are as follows:

1.

Proposed TS pages 3/4 A 3-4, -6, -9, -11, -12, 3/4 B 3-4, -6, -9, -11, and -12 are not based on the most recent TS amendment issued for these pages. Amendments 63 and 57 for Units 1 and 2 issued on May 9,1989, provided the most recent amendment for these pages as well as page 3/4 A 3-12a.

The original mark-ups have been transferred to the TS pages containing the most recent amendment issued for these pages.

2.

The FAH (X,Y) SURV should be referenced as being identified in tha COLR similar to the fashion for FAH (X,Y) LCO on page 3/4 A 2-8.

The reference to the COLR has been added in the attached TS mark-ups.

3.

A connecting term appears to be missing from the attachment to page 3/4 A 2-9.

The connecting term "and," has been added in the attached TS mark-ups.

4.

The deletion marker on pages 3/4 A 3 35 and 3/4 B 3-35 inappropriately includes the Trip setpoint column.

The attached TS marked-up pages no longer include the Trip setpoint column in the deletion marker.

5.

The phm;e "three limiting" appears in four locations, but was proposed for deletion in only two locations on pages 3/4 5-1 and 3/4 5-2. Please clarify.

The two other locations of the phrase "three limiting" should also be deleted.

This change is reflected in the attached TS mark-ups. Also included is the Bases mark-up for TS 3/4.5.1. This Bases page was inadvertently omitted from the original submittal, s
