caused a reactor trip signal to be generated. A short circuit failure (f the RCP P003 motor phase "C" surge protection capacitor occurred due to long tera vibration-induced abrasian damage to the mylar plastic insulation withiri the capacitor asscmoly. The surge capacitors for al, four Unit 3 RCPs were replaced with in-kind parts and the surge capacitors for the Unit 2 RCPs will be rer: 1ced during the next outage of sufficient duration. The RCP motor preventative r:nintenance program -ill be modified t;, include an Periodic replacement of the appropriate periodic examination, including testing, of the surge cenac, tors.
