SUMMARY

MONTH: May,1996 Catawba Unit I began the month of May operating at 100% full power. The unit operated at or near 100%

full power until 05/08/96 at 0421, when the unit began reducing power and was removed from service on 05/08/96 at 0726 due to misalignment of 2 control rods in control bank 'A' during control rod performance testing. The unit was placed on-line 05/11/96 at 0351. The unit returned to 100% power on 05/11/96 at 2010 and operated at or near 100% power the remainder of the month.

NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTH: May,1996 Catawba Unit 2 began the month of May operating at 100% fuli power. The unit operated at or near 100%

full power until 05/06/96 at 1637 when '2B' main generator breaker tripped due to faulty load transfer circuit timer resulting in a unit runback to 51% power. On 05/08/96 at 1725 the unit returned to 100%

power. On 05/17/96 at 2110 the unit began decreasing power and held at 46% power from 05/18/96 at 0225 to 2343 due to main transformer tap adjustment. The unit returned to 100% power on 05/19/96 at i126 and operated at or near 100% power the remainder of the month.
