OPERATIONS NARRATIVE COOPER NUCLEAR STATION May 1996

Fuel leaker power suppression operation continued throughout the month.

i Trending of the fuelleak indicated continued deterioration and a shutdown to replace the fuel leak was planned for June 1996. The control rod

, patterns used to suppress the fuel leak increased thermal limits to near Technical Specification numbers and required reduced power operation.

On 5/31/96, power reductions were commenced to start the fuel leak replacement outage.

A capacity factor of 96.1 was achieved for the month.
