Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No, 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Updated Incorvice Testing Program, Issue 2, Revision d The purpose of this submittal is to provide the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with an informational copy of revisions to the Beavel Valley Power Station Unit 1 (BVPS-1) Inservice Testing (IST) Program.
Enclosure 1
provides a summary of the IST program changes which have been incorporated into Revision 8.
Enclosure 1 is Issue 2, Revision 8 of the BVPS-1 IST Program.
It has been detern.ined that the IST program changes do not require NRC approval prior to implementation.
This determination was made because all of the changes are either:
editorial in nature in compliance with the 1983 rdition through Summer 1983 Addenda of the ASME XI Code In compliance with the positions delineated in Attachment 1 of Generic Letter No.
89-04,

We following changes made to the Unit 1 IST Program are in accordance with the ASME XI Code and Generic letter No. 89-04:
a.
Added to the end of the paragraph followiM Table 1WV-3'00-1 on page 51, "except where remote position verification is required".
%is was also added to the BVPS-2 ISr Program in the last revision.
Passive valves with remote position indication are verified in accordance with IUV-3300, b.
Noted in the " Comments " section of the " Valve Testing Outline" sheets for the following weightcd arm check valves and under the "Altemate Test" section of their associated CSJ's that they are full stroked "by mechanical exerciser":

We "NSA" position on the " Valve h sting Outline" sheet for the Dypass Feedwater Regulating Valves { FCV-1W-479, 489 and 499)
(page 97) was changed from throttled (T) to shut (S) and the surveillance test was changed to 10ST-47.3A(3B). Consequently, Cold Shutdown Justification No.
30 (page 135) was deleted since the valves can nott be tested quarterly.
e.
Noted in the "Commnts" column of the " Valve Testing outline" sheet for Main Condenser Air Ejector Discharge to Contain: rent valve (TV-1SV-100A)
(page 99) that the valve will be stroked and timed "open and closed". This was done to meet Corrective Action Item NO. 2 of LER 92-001-00, f.
Deleted the River Water to Control Room Back-up Cooling Coil Check Valves (1W-135 and 136] aid associated Relief Request No. 33 (page 167) from the BVPS-1 IST Program. We check valve internals were permanently removed from these valves }~ r DCP-1753 during the 8th Refueling Catage.
g.
Deleted the Riser Water to Charging Pump Lube Oil Cooler Check Valves [12-158 ard 259] (page 103) from the BVPS-1 IST Program.

(page 110) from "B/P" to "B".
The valves will now be stroked in the opan direction per 10SF-47. 3A on a quarterly frequency until SMR-2426 is ocupleted at least - by the 9th Refuelirg Outage. At that time these valves will be charged back to Catcgory "B/ Passive" valves and would not require stroking.

The following charges made to the Unit 1 ISP Program are editorial in nature:
a.
Added additional detail describirq how flow is obtained for the Charging Pumps (101-P-1A, B,
and C] to the " Comments" column on the "Punp Testing Outline" sheets (pages 6 - 8),
b.
Noted in the '" Remarks" section of the " Pumps Testing Outline" sheets for the DiSI Punps [1SI 3-1A ard B] (pages 13 - 14) that.
the pumps are tested quarterly on recirculation " flow". Also noted_ that vibration readings are obtained using fixed vibration probes "on pump shaft".
c.
Noted in the " Remarks" section of the " Pump Testirg Outline" sneets for the Auxiliary-Feedwater Pumps
[1Bf-P-2, 3A and 3B]

Added new Item' B.1 on page 50 as follows:
"If the inoperable check valve is specifically identified in the Technical Specifications, 'then the applicable technical specification action-statements must be followed". This item was accidentally omitted from the IST Program for check valves and is being added for completeness.
The requirement has existed-in TSAP 3.10, "IST L-Administrative Procedure", Section 5.7.3.",
and was also added to the BVPS-2 IST Program in the last revision.
