Dear Mr.-Denton:
My letter of October 2, 1984 stated that the' limited operational fog monitoring program began at Catawba Nuclear Station on September 1, 1984 and would continue through the winter of 1984-1985, with an interim report to be submitted by May 15, 1985.
Due to the delays in reaching criticality and significant power on Unit 1, the visual observation portion of the program will not contain enough operational data to be useful for the interim report. We propose, therefore, that we continue this program through the winter of 1985-1986, so that we can acquire an adequate operational visual observation data base that includes critical fall-winter cooling tower operations. The report following this study would be submitted by May 31, 1986 as a final report on this phase _ of the program.
The operational fog monitoring program will be. implemented as I stated in my October 2, 1984 letter, for one year, beginning with both units on line. A final fog study report will be submitted upon completion of the one year study.
