ENCLOSURE 1 RESPONSE TO-NOTICE OF VIOLATION INSPECTION REPORT 84-27 I.
ADMISSION OR DENIAL OF THE ALLEGED VIOLATION South Carolina Electric and Gas Company is in agreement with the violation as stated.
' II.
REASON FOR THE VIOLATION The violation occurred due to the worker's disregard for the the requirements of the Radiation Work Permit (RWP).
The worker performing the decontamination work entered the area on the 374' elevation of the Auxiliary Building in compliance with the requiremenf., stated in RWP 08-36.
At some point following entry into the area, the worker removed the surgeon's cap required by the RWP.
This action was witnessed by other decontamination workers in the area.
The worker was aware of the dress requirements of the RWP and the fact that Health Physics Procedure HPP-401 required compliance.
III.
ACTIONS TAKEN AND RESULTS ACHIEVED Upon notification of Health Physics by the NRC Inspector, the worker was required to put on another surgeon's cap for the remainder of the work period in the area.
The Notice of violation has been posted per the requirements of.0CFR Part 19.11(e).
The Licensee will also post the response to the violation per the requirements of 10CFR Part 19.ll(e).
VI.
CORRECTIVE ACTION TO PREVENT RECURRENCE South Carolina Electric and Gas Company has terminated the worker's emplo; ment with the Company because of his willful disregard for radiation work procedures.
The posting of this violation in the Plant will increase worker awareness of the seriousness of non-compliance with the requirements of Radiation Work Permits.
Due to the fact that the violation resulted from intentional disregard for the procedures, this is considered to be an isolated case which warrants no further corrective action.
V.
DATE OF FULL COMPLIANCE South Carolina Electric and Gas Company will achieve full compliance by November 27, 1984 by the posting of this response.
