NRC MONTHLY REPORT - NOVEPBER 1984

.o 4

The Unit was shut down the entire month by order of the NRC. The plant remained in cold shutdown with core cooling provided by the Decay Heat Removal System.

The RCS was partially drained most of the moith to permit continued inspections of tubes.

MAJOR SAFETY RELATED MAINTENANCE The following major maintenance items were completed during the month:

OTSGs RC-H-1A/8 i

During the month of November, Eddy current testing of Once Through Steam Generator (OTSG) tubes commenced. Work completed included the refurbishing of Eddy current test equipment, removal of the upper and lower manway covers, the installation of work tents / platforms, equipment set-up, template installa-tion, and fabrication / installation of lower temporary manway covers.

This testing is being conducted as a normally scheduled Tecii Spec surveillance and will continue into December. The results of these inspections will be forwarded, when available, under separate correspondence.

EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATORS EG-Y-1A/B i

Work was completed on EG-Y-1A in November including coolant leak reapairs, timing adjustments, replacing lube oil filters and a satisfactory 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
test run. A DC oil pump motor was sent out for rewinding and is to be returned in December.

Timing adjustments were completed on the "B" diesel generator and trip tests were completed on both diesel generators. All tests were performed with satis-factory results.

I DECAY HEAT CLOSED COOLING PUMP DC-P-1A i

i The DC-P-1A mechanical seal installation was completed in November with seal installation, reassembly of the pump, coupling alignment and a satisfactory test run. All work is complete.

DECAY HEAT CLOSED COOLING COOLER DC-C-1A i

DC-C-1A work completed was tube cleaning, waterbox r.nd end cover cleaning, in-spection of the water box, PC-7 and coal tar epoxy installation, tube leak checks, tube thickness inspections and reinstallation of the end covers. All work is complete.

l DECAY HEAT REMOVAL PUMP DH-P-1A

.l Mechanical seal replacement work on pump DH-P-1A was completed in November.

1 The pump internals were disassembled, the old seal removed and new seal in stalled, the pump internals were reassembled into the pump casing, couplin aligned and dowel pins installed. The pump was satisfactorily tested. Al work is complete.

MAKE-UP AND PURIFICATION PUMP MU-P-1A Work commenced on MU-P-1A to resolve high current reading on the motor. The pump was test run then uncoupled from the speed increaser and alignment checked. The speed increaser then was run and uncoupled from the motor, and the alignment checked.

The inotor was test run and all data analyzed. The speed increaser high speed bearing was found to be running at a higher temperature and misalignment was found between the motor and speed increaser.

Work will continue next month with further inspections and coupling alignment.
