Mr. R. W. Starostecki, Director U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region I Division of Project and Resident Programs 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, PA 19406 Re: Nine Mile Point - Unit ?

Docket No. 50-410

Dear Mr. Starostecki:

On June 21, 1984, we submitted a final report in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e) concerning Rosemont 510 DU Racks.

At that time, Niagara Mohawk felt it was necessary to bolt the 510 DU card files to the rear unistrut supports.

Since our submittal of June 21, 1984, General Electric has verified that the Grand Gulf panel H13-P693 was seismically qualified without bolting the card files to the rear supports.

Niagara Mohawk engineering agrees with General Electric's position that bolting to the rear support is unnecessary.

Therefore, the Rosemont 51 0 DU racks will be accepted without this modification.

Very truly yours, C. V. Mangan Vice President Nuclear Engineering and Licensing CVM/GG/dd xc: Director of Inspection and Enforcement U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 R. A. Gra.1m, NRC Resident Inspector ProjectFile(2) m
