Subject:

McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370 Proposed Technical Specifications Reactor Coolant System Vent System

Dear Mr. Denton:

Attached are proposed license amendments to Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9 and NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2, respectively. The proposed Technical Specifications are submitted in response to NRC Generic Letter 83-37 and NRC letter dated August 3, 1984.

These proposed Technical Specifications provide the operability and surveillance requirements for the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) Vent System which has been installed pursuant to TM1 Action Plan Item II, B.2. The proposed specification is based on the model Standard Technical Specifications provided in Generic Letter 83-37, with one exception. The exception is the periodic surveillance requirement to verify flow. A technical discussion of this is provided in Attachment 2.

Attachment 1 contains the proposed Technical Specification changes. Attachment 2 discusses the Justification and Safety Analysis to support the proposed changes. Attachment 3 provides an analysis performed in accordance with the standards contained in 10 CFR 50.92 as required by 10 CFR 50.91. This analysis concludes that the proposed amendments have been reviewed and have been determined to have no adverse safety or environmental impact.

This request involves one application for amendment to McGuire's Technical Specifications. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.21, a check for $150.00 is-enclosed.
