Subj: Potential 10CFR50.55(e) Interim Report -
Reactor Coolant System Resistance Temperature Detector Calibration Data
Dear Mr. Hunter:
This letter provides an interim report on a potential 10CFR50.55(e) concerning Reactor Coolant System Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) calibration data at Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS). This matter was initially reported by Mr. H.K. Chernoff of Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG&E) to Mr. Robert Smith of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region IV, on August 1, 1984.
While verifying calibration data supplied by the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) RTD manufacturer, RdF, differences were noted between the cal-culated resistance versus temperature data and the resistance versus temperature data actually measured by the manufacturer. The calculated calibration data was generated from information supplied by the manu-facturer. A Startup Field Report (SFR l-BB-150) was initiated to document the existing condition and resolve the discrepancy in calibration data.
An evaluation of the aforementioned discrepancy is being conducted and a final report will be submitted upon conclusion of the evaluation.
The status of this potential 10CFR50.55(e) will be carried on the monthly status update as file 53564-K148. The final report or any significant new information will be submitted by separate correspondence.
