Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Environmental Qualification of Equipment Important'to Safety Your letter of May 9, 1984 requested GPUN to provide information which the NRC staff requires to complete their Safety Evaluation Report on environmental qualification for Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station.
Our letter dated June 15, 1984 estimated that the information would be available by September 1, 1984. However, as we stated in our telephone conversation with your staff (Project Manager for Oyster Creek) on August 29, 1984, additional time is required to address all the concerns raised by the May 9, 1984 letter. To this end GPUN has recently established a new electrical equipment qualification (EEQ) organization and a program to review the entire scope of the EEQ efforts has been initiated.
Updated information such as the recently generated symptom oriented operating procedures and plant modifications accomplished during the Cycle 10 outage are being incorporated in this program. The review includes the detailed re-examination of the current JC0's and the equipment master list.
It also includes identification of any auxiliary devices or systems (electrically connected or mechanically connected) whose failure due to postulated environmental conditions could prevent required operation of the safety-related equipment.
Investigation of nonsafety-related electrical circuits indirectly associated with the safety-related electrical equipment is also included.
