VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT INDIVIDUAL PLANT EXAMINATION OF EXTERNAL EVENTS FOR SEVERE ACCIDENT VULNERABILITIES In accordance with the requirements of Generic Letter 88-20 and Supplement 4 to the Generic Letter, enclosed is the Individual Plant Examination of External Events (IPEEE)
Report for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 1 and 2. The IPEEE has been completed and documented as requested by the provisions of the Generic Letter. For seismic events, the EPRI developed seismic margins method was utilized. Internal fires were evaluated by performing a Level I fire PRA. High winds, external floods, and transportation and nearby facilities accidents were evaluated by the screening type approach as permitted for plants that meet the 1975 Standard Review Plan criteria. The content and format is presented in accordance with the recommendations of NUREG-1407, Procedural and Submittal Guidance for the Individual Plant Examination of External Events (IPEEE) for Severe Accident Vulnerabilities.
The major fmding of this examination is that VEGP has no fundamental weaknesses or vulnerabilities to severe accident risk from the exter nal events reviewed in this examination.
