allowed..This request had been treated in a routine manner until the PM was condition of certain system dampersinformed recently that evaluation by(which ini_
the licensee indicates that the deteriorating. It is. feared that failure of the dampers might cause fan damage and require more extended plant shutdown. Availability.of parts and completion of engineering will permit repair / replacement of the dampers in October 1984. The system design is such that the necessary repairs cannot be performed while any ventilation fans are operating. The present TS, as interpreted by Region II, requires reactor shutdown if more than one pair of exhaust fans is inoperable.
Since waiting for the October monthly notice would not permit issuance of the amendment before late November, issuance of
-an individual notice is requested to minimize the period of potential plant shutdown.
