POTENTIAL CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY SEISMIC BRACING IN MOTOR CONTROL CENTERS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On April 24, 1984, a verbal report was made to Region I,
- Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr.
E.
C.
McCabe, advising of a potentially significant construction deficiency concerning missing rear. structural support plates in three Motor Control Centers supplied by Eaton Corporation.
The following interim report is provided in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e).
Our Architect / Engineer and Constructor, Bechtel, has advised us that structural support panels required for supplementary seismic bracing are not installed on Motor Control Centers (MCC's) 10B212, 10B222 and 10B242.
.These Class lE MCP's were supplied by Cutler-Hammer Division of Eaton Corporation.
Bechtel has i":ued Nonconformance Report No. 3731 to document the problem and to control the discrepant hardware.
Eaton Corporation and Bechtel are evaluating the significance of-this omission for reportability.
We anticipate providing your office with a final report, to include our safety analysis, by June 29, 1984.
