Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Attention: Ms. E. G. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4 Re: Catawba Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414

Dear Mr. Denton:

Section 13.5.3 of the Catawba Safety Evaluation Report discusses License Condition 26, Modifications to Emergency Operating Instructions. On April 14, 1983, Duke Power provided a response to Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737 which included a description of the Emergency Procedure Upgrade Program for Catawba. Section 6.2.1 of that response described Duke Power's plans for_ incorporating the Westinghouse Emergency Response Guidelines (ERGS) into the Catawba Emergency Procedures.

By letter dated June 18, 1984, Duke Power submitted a document entitled

" Description of Deviations From Generic Emergency Response Guidelines", which described and justified the safety-significant deviations between the Catawba plant-specific Emergency Procedure Guidelines (EPGs) and Revision 1 of the Westinghouse Owner's Group Emergency Response Guidelines (ERGS). Subsequent discussions with the NRC staff reviewers (Procedures and System Review Branch in the Division of Human Factors Safety) indicated that supplementary informa-tion would enable an expeditious review and resolution of this license condition.

The attached document provides the requested supplementary information.
