It describes the responsibilities and controls necessary to implement I

1.2.2 ASBD-NDT, Schenectady, reserves the right to exceed the minimum requirements of SNT-TC-1A as specified herein in order to meet additional levels of skills and responsibilities for certain individuals in selected

2.0 Definitions
2.1 Qualification
Capability as indicated by skill, training and experience required for personnel to properly perform the duties of

Written testimony of quali.fication based upon comparison to established standards of performance through written and practical examination.

The organized and controlled classroom and on-the-job training developed to impart the knowledge and skills necessary for gualification and certification.

3.0 Responsibilities
- 3'.1 The Manager, ASBD-NDT, is responsible for the qualification and cert'ification of ASBD NDT personnel.

- 3.2 De Manager, ASBD-WDT, shall be responsible for the appointment of NDT Level III examiner (s). The examiner (s) shall have been previously certified to Level III.

this document. This shall be determined by the Manager, ASBD-NDT.
- 3.4
- The Level III examiner (s) for each NDT discipline shall provide guidance and direction for related training, qualification and certification for ASBD-NDT personnu.
Certificates shall be signed by the Level III examiner and the Manager, ASBD-NDT (Exhibit IV).
- 3.5 ASBD-NDT personnel shall be responsible for recording all NDT work experience on the work experience record (Exhibit II). Such i
documents shall be forwarded *:o the ASBD-NDT ' headquarters in schenectady on a minimum of a bi-monthly basis.
3.5.1 Work experience will be included in the job summary on the

basis of when the data is received in Schenectady. The cumulative time will not be adjusted on the chronology of the work experience if the data is sent out of sequence.

- 6.8.5 The training and experience listed on chart 6.8.3 shall consist of time at level I.
For exceptions to the normal progression from trainee to certification as Level II, the overall requirements of training and experience are the sum of hours on charts 6.8.2 and 6.8.3.
Two typical exceptions include, individuals who have been involved in NDT prior to a formal NDT program, and individuals who have had more than l
the required time at Level I-T before certification to I-Level I.

- 6.8.6 Under special circumstances, credit for experience may be gained simultaneously in two or more disciplines. The candidate must spend at least 25% of the work time on each discipline for which experience is being clained.
Furthermore, this similar testing must meet the 25%
requirement during each calendar veek. These special circumstances must be reviewed and approved in advance by the Manager ASBD-NDT or the Level III Examiner.

REVISIONS 7.0 Examinations
- 7.1 An NDT Level III Examiner cr his selected representative shall conduct and grade examinations for all NDT Levels 1-T, I, and II.

candidate NDT Level III individuals. Written examinations shall be administered in accordance with paragraphs 7.1.2 and 7.1.3 of this q

All NDT personnel shall meet the vision requirements specified herein both as a prerequisite to training, qualification, and certification and as a
%g continuing requirement. Eye screening shall be performed at least annually by a qualified individual approved by the Manager ASBD-NDT. Eye screening results shall be recorded on Form NDT-F-102 Exhibit III and kept on file.
- 7.1.1.1 visual uity (Uncorrected or corrected): The Jaeger No.1 Chart shall be read from a distance of 15.7 inches, plus or minus 1 inch. This requirement is for monocular as well as binocular vision. The ability to perceive an Ortho-Rate minimum of eight h.

- 7.4.3 Practical Examination:
Proficiency shall be demonstrated in selecting, specifying and writing specifications and/or procedures for the performance of the applicable mondestructive examination using appropriate reference material. We proficiency shall also be demonstrated by performing and evauliting the results on one or more samples approved by the NDT Invel III examiner. At least 10 different checkpoints requiring an understanding of test variables, and procedural requirements shall be included in this portion of the practical examination.
- 7.4.4.
If the Level III candidate has been certified by examination administered by the America Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), the general examination does not need to be administered.
7.5 Crading
The NDT Level III Examiner shall be responsible for the conducting and grading of examinations of all NDT personnel. The actual administration and grading of examinations m:y be delegated to the duly selected representative of the Level III Examiner and so recorded.
7.5.1 Minimum required percentile grades for NDT Levels I-T, I, II and III are detailed in Paragraph 7.5.2.
These grades shall be a composite grade based upon the general, specific and practical tests as weighed in Paragraph 7.5.3.

'8.1 Certification of all NOT personnel is the responsibility of the Manager, ASBD-NDT with approval by NDT Level III Examiner'.
