f Description of Deficiency TVA's Civil Engineering Support Branch (CEB) Engineering Procedure (EP) 21.12, revision 2, Table 5.4-5, and Bellefonte Design Project drawing 3BT0001-00-01 list valve and pipe fitting adjustment factors for insulation weight calculations. The factors multiplied by the weight per foot of pipe The I

insulation yield an insulation weight value per valve or fitting.

analysts have used these factors and applied the results as a weight per foot in the analyses. This has created some nonconservative results.

Interim Progress TVA will perform a study utilizing computer-aided analysis on selected mathematical models to review the effects of this deficiency on the frequency analyses, supports loads, and pipe / component / fitting stresses.

The results of this study will determine what further corrective action will be necessary.

TVA will also revise the Bellefonte analyses verification checklist to include a requirement to check the application of the insulation weight l

The Bellefonte Rigorous Analysis Handbook (RAH) will adjustment factor (s).

be revised to provide additional instructions to ensure that the analyst is aware of the results obtained by applying these factors.

1 TVA is investigating the applicability of this deficiency to other TVA nuclear plants and to analysis work done by contract organizations outside TVA.
