Check valve (1" - 276Y) imediately downstream of A0-2969-P (Instrunent Nitrogen Systcrt) failed leak rato test.

Unit 2 shutdown for piping inspcotion.

During a routine local leak rate test the above identified check valve was found to leak in excess of acceptable values.
Designation of Apparent Cause of Occurrence:
The valve seating surfaces were damaged, resulting in excessive leakage.
Analysis of Occurrence:
The safety implications of this occurrence are minimal since the downstream isolation valve, A0-29693, was found to close and seal satisfactorily.
Corrective Action:
An additional duplicate check valve was installed in the line between the air operated block valve A0-299693 and the containment penetration. This valve was satisfactorily leak teated.
