Conditions Prior to Occurrence:
, Reactor at approximately 22". power with RCIC in test. at the Emergency Shutdown Panal.
4 Description of Occurrence.
q During the test run of the RCIC from the Emergency Shutdown Panel, the static-invertc; f c-ding the--RCIC flow-controllermethe taurgency Shutdown Panel tripped repeatedly upon starting of the'RCIC~: Barometric t.
. NCondenser Condensate Pump. Each time, it was immediately reset.

' Designation of Apparent Cause of Occurrence:

Under investigation; preliminary investigation points to a failure in the trip circuitry of the particular inverter unit.

Ow Analysis of Occurrence:
0 At the time of the inverter trippings, all other Unit 3 Emergency Core 1
$c Coolin6 Systems were operable. Due to this and the short times that h
88 the inverter was tripped, this occurrence has minimal safety significance.-

The problem was traced to the inverter unit, which was replaced with a id Y spare. The spara inverted has not tripped throughout the remainder of b

Five other trippings of RCIC invertars have been reported as A0-50-277-74-14, A0-50-277-74-20, A0-50-277-74-37, A0-50-277-74-39, and A0-50-277-74-40.
