Failure of the F,-2 diesel geacrator.
Conditions Prior to Cecurrenca:
Unit 2 at 92Z ymerr. Unit 3 at 100%.
Description of Occurrence:
The E-2 diesel generator failed to flash its fiald during a startins sequeces, resultima in the insbility of the severator to susemin a :y load.
Designation of Apparest Cause of Occurrence:
A stu11 particle of dirt or other foreign unterisi is ba11esed to have inter-fared with the field flashing logic relays. The contacts were manually cycled a.ad the diesel ganarator was restarted successfully.
Analysis of Occurrence:
The safety implications of this occurrence ars =inimal beesuna this occurrence had no offect on the remaining diecals and one diasal is considered redundant.
In addician, the amount of time that the diesel was inoperable was less thzs an The martusi cycling of the field f1==hing relays was followed fmediately by hour.

Corrective Actica:
The masual cycling of the field flashie w relays apparently removed thm suspect p.artir.le of foreign material because the correct logic cequence was wirnessed during subsequent starts.
Failate Dsta:
No previous failurus of this type.
