Objectirs To specify minimum requirements pertaining to the press v and main steam system safety valses.
Secdacatiens To provide adequate overpressure protection for the reactor coolant system and steam system, the following safety valve requiremcuts shall be met:
(1)
The reactor shall not be made critical unless the two pressurizer safety /alves are operable with their lift settings adjusted to ensure valve opening between at 2500 psia ib.L5 and 2545 psia 11E("
(2)
Whenever there is fuel in the reactor, and the reactor vessel hcad is installed, a minimum of one operaole safety valve shall be installed on the pressurizer, llowever, when in at least the cold shutdown conditlen, safety valve noules may be open to containment atmospherc during performance of safety valve tests or maintenance to satisfy this specification.
(3)
Whenever the reactor is in power operation, eight of the ten niain steam safety valves shall be operable with their lift settings between adjusted to_cniutt.raltcs ca.sach_hcadcLopening_al 1000 psia 13/-2E_1.011. psia +3/ LL_1021. psia

l DhiefliEC To specify minimum requirements pertaining to the pressurizer and main steam safety j salves.
Specif&caftens To provide adequate overpressure protection for the reactor coolant systcm and steam system, the following safety valve requirements shall be met:
(1)
The reactor shall not be made critical unless the two pressurizer safety valves are operable with their lift settings adjusted to ensure valve opening at 2500 psia 1% and 2545 psia il%.*
(2)
Whenever there is fuel in the reactor, and the reactor vessel head is installed, a minimum of one operable safety valve shall be installed on the pressuriter.
Howe /cr, when in at least the cold shutco.v. condition, safety valve nozzles may be open to containment atmosphere dui-t mrformance of safety valve tests or maintenance to satisfy this specification.
(3)
Whenever the reactor is in power operation, eight of the ten main steam safety valves shall be operable with their lift settings adjusted to ensure valves on each header opening at 1000 psia +3/-2%,1015 psia +3/-2%,1025 psia +3/-2%,
1040 psia +3/-2%, and 1050 psia +3/-2%.m (4)
Iloth pressurizer power-operated relief valves (PORV's) shall be operable during scheduled heatup and cooldown to prevent violation of the pressure-temperature limits designated b, Figures 2-1 A and 2-111. One PORV may be inoperable for up to 7 days, provided the remaining PORY is operable. If the above conditions a
of this paragraph cannot be met, the primary system must be depressurized and j
ven'ed.
3 (5)
Two power-operated relief valves (PORV's) and their associated bhrk valves shall be operable in Modes 1,2, and 3.
