DOCKET 150-317 CALVERT CLIFFS. UNIT 1 November 13,1991 -

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE October 1991 The unit began the month at 93% power (760 MWe) awaiting repairs to 13A Waterbox Inlet MOV.

An automatic reactor trip occurred at IM8 on October 1 due to low Steam Generator (SG) water levels.12 Feed Regulating Vahe differential pressure controller and 12 SG Feed Pump turbine speed controller lost power resulting in a rapid reduction in feed flow. The reactor was taken critical at 2020 on October 2 and the generator was paralleled to the grid at 0600 on October 3. Power was held at 30% (150 MWe) until 1030 on October 4 to correct SG Chemistry and troubleshoot problems with #2 and #4 Main Turbine Control Valves.

The unit reached 93% (740 MWe) at 2145 on October 4. Power was held there until 1715 on ,

October 6 to repair leaking tubes in 13A Main Condenser.100% power (830 MWe) was achieved at 1840.

Power was reduced to %% from 2130 to 2358 on October 8 for Nuclear Instrument (NI) calibrations.

Power was reduced to 95% (805 MWe) from 0640 on October 9 to 0200 on October 10 due to oscillations in Channel D Delta-T Power indication.

Power was reduced to 9&c (810 MWe) from 2147 to 2350 on October 10 for NI calibrations.

l-Power was reduced to 93% (775 MWe) from 1945 on October 11 to 2000 on October 12 due to a tube leak in 11B Main Condenser.

Power was reduced to 97% (825 MWe) at 2200 on October 31 for Moderator Temperature

CoefGeient Testing.

i The unit ended the month at 97% power (825 MWe).
