Dear Mr. Block:
In accordance with Paragraph 6.6.1.c, Technical Specifications, the following abnormal occurrence is reported.
While performing a= routine equipment check it was discovered that "A" containment spray pump would not rotate freely when turned by hand. The pump was disassembled and inspected.
It was found that the, impeller alignment ring was galled and binding on the casing alignment e
seal ring. A new impeller, impeller alignment seal ring and casing alignment ring were installed. The pump was reassembled and test run i
satisfactorily. This is documented in Periodic Test No. 2.3 performed on June 7, 1972.
The reactor was shutdown during this period for repairs not i
related to the above problem.
