20545 H. B. ROBINSON UNIT NO. 2 LICENSE DPR-23 SAFETY EQUIPMENT CONTROL CIRCUIT DESIGN
Dear Mr. Skovholt:
In response to your letter dated December 22, 1972, we have con-ducted a review of control circuits and procedures on all safety related equipment at Robinson Unit No. 2.
Our investigation has shown that disabling and racking out the breaker of one component does not render l
redundant components inoperative. In addition to the circuitry review, a containment vessel spray pump was successfully test operated with the
+
redundant pump breaker racked out, confirming the results of our investigation.
t Plant operating procedures for safety related equipment provide that, when a portion of a redundant system is to be removed from service, the portion remaining in service be demonstrated to be operable prior to initiating repairs.
i This procedure will be revised to require that the demonstration of operability be performed immediately after the affected equipment has been disabled.
Very truly yours,
