The purpose of this letter is to nrovide vou with notification of an Abnormal Occurrence as reauired by Technical Specification 6.6.B .l.a within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of the occurrence.

At 0715, nunber 5 T.I.P. ball valve was found in the open posi-( tion and would not close when coerator initiated. Instrument nochanics are repairing the valve at this nonent. Load is be- ,

ing reduced at the rate of 20 MWe/Hr. and the T.I.P. actuating mechanism is ready to fire if necessary. There is no inmediate danger to the health and safety of the public. (

This occurrence was discussed by telechone with Mr. Knop of your office on Movember 8, 1974 Further infornation will be pro-vided by Abnormal Occurrence Report AO 50-254 74-37 which will be submitted within 10 days of the date of this occurrence.
