Dear Mr. Keppler:

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with notification of an Abnorma1 Occurrence a' rc- Tuired by Technica1 Specification 6.6.B.l.a within 24 hovrt. a che occurrence.

On December 9, 1974 at 1005 hours0.0116 days <br />0.279 hours <br />0.00166 weeks <br />3.824025e-4 months <br />, the 2E Reactor Recire. M. G.

set tripped due to valve closure. The recire. suction va lve ,

4 however, did not clesc - t ire ly . The suction valve was started closed by .nomentarily holding the contactor until the running current decreased to normal, thereby allowing the valve to close norma lly. Cause of the suction valve failure is under -

investigation. The "O recirc. pump will remain off.until an outage allows inspection of the suction valve.

This occurrence was discussed by telephone with Mr. C. Feierabend ,

! of your office on December 9, 1974. Further information will be provided by Abnormal occurrence Report AO 50-265/74-27 which will i

be submitted within 10 days of the dato of this occurrence.
