,jl At 3:25 p. n. on AprII 8,1975, during nonthly surveillance testing of unit 2

. diesel generator, an electrical flash burned out the d o e rectifier array of id the generator
- s excitation circuitry.
The diesel generator output breaker was -
I~
inmediately-tripped and the. generator was stopped. No damage occurred other -
I than that in the
'sectif ter cabinet.
A~ work. request (1259-75) was then issued
[
for repair of the damaged electrical gear.
Although the diesel ' generator was made dinoperable, the safety frupIIcations were
' minimized by the fact that the unit was in the cold shutdown condition for s
s refueling and off-site auxiliary power was available.
