Dear Hr. Keppler:

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with notification of an Abnormal Occurrence as required by Technical Specification 6.6.B.I.a within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
of the occurrence.

During the start-up test program on Unit 2 following the cycle i refuel outage, the reactor was shutdown to change control rod patterns.

Start-up commenced at 7:02 p.m. on April 26, 1975 An earlier (5 p.m.) sample of reactor coolant showed conductivity of 8.65 umbo and chloride concentration of 0.295 ppm.thus exceeding Technical Speci fication 3.6.C.3 Upon realization of this. occurrence, It an orderly shutdown'was commenced with the reactor subcritical at 8:32 p.m. Pre-is suspected that the high readings were caused by a condenser tube leak.

sent plans are to identify and correct the tube leaks during the present shutdown.

Latest reactor coolant samples show the chloride concentration to be.049 ppm.

This occurrence was discussed by telephone with Mr. Feierabend of your office Further information will be provided by Abnorma! Occurrence on April 27, 1975 Report A0 50-265/75-15 which wi11 be submitted within 10 days of the date of this occurrence.
