Dear Mr. Keppler:
The purpose of this letter is to p'rovide you with notification of an Abnormal Occurrence as required by Technical Specification 6.6.B.I.a within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of the occurrence.
At 9:00 P.M. on August 9,1975, during routine monthly surveillance testing, i
i-1 A Standby Liquid Control pump produced a flow rate of only 20 GPM against a system head of 1275 psig due to premature lifting of relief valve RV-1-1105A.
The' minimum flow rate required by Technical Specification 4.4.A.I is 39 spm at 1275 psig.
The relief valve was reset and the pump retested satisfactorily at a flow of 47.6 gpm against a head of 1275 psig on August 10, 1975 This occurrence was discussed by telephone with Mr. Hayas of your office on August 10, 1975 Further information will be provided by Abnormal Occurrence Report A0 50-254/75-20 which will be submitted withing 10 days of the date of this occurrence.
