The purpose of this letter is to provide you with notification of an Abnormal Occurrence as requi red by Techni cal Speci fication 6.6.B. I.a wi thin 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of the occurrence.

On August 17, 1975 while bringing Unit Two back to power following a mainten-ance outage, the 6" to 4" reducer on the downstream side of low flow feedwater regulating valve, 2-643, severed due to vibration incurred while transferring f rom the low flow feedwater regulating valve to the ' main feedwater regulating valve.
The unit was manually scrammed and the reactor level was maintained with the RCIC system.
Although contaminated water was introduced into the oil separator none was released to the environs.
This occurrence was discussed by telephone with Mr. Knop of your office on August 17. 1975 Further information'will be provided by Abnormal Occurrence Report [A0 50-265/75-31)vhich will be submitted within 10 days of the date of this occurrence.
