Dear Mr. . Keppler:

The purpose of th'is letter is to provide you with notification of.an Abnormal Occurrence as required by Technical Specification 6.6.B.I.a within:21i hours of the occurrence.

On August 24, 1975,- during an' inspection of hydraulic snubbers, one Grinnell snubber on the main steam drain line and one Bergen-Patterson snubber on the reactor recirculation system were found faulty. The Grinnell snubber had an empty fluid reservoir and the Bergen-Patterson snubber had a leaking accumulator.

Work reques,ts were issued for repair of the snubbers; replacement parts were int.tslied prior to the reactor startup on August 25, 1975 This occurrence was discussed by telephone with Mr. Feierabend of your office on August 25, 1975 Further information will be provided by Abnormal Occurrence ReportA050f265/75-32)whichwillbeu submitted within 10 days of the date of
