Kelly, advising of a potentially significant construction deficiency concerning defectivo capstan springs in mechanical shock arrestors supplied by ITT Grinnoll.
Interim reports woro sent to your office on November 23, 1983, and February 29, 1984.
The following interim report is provided in accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50.55(o).
Pacific Scientific has revised their list of affected snubbers supplied to llope Crook reducing the number from 101 to 87.
On April 19, 1984, our Architect /Engincor and Constructor, Dechtol, shipped 86 of the suspect snubbers to Pacific Scientific for examination and replacement of the capstan springs as required.
Bechtel is presently developing administrative controls to ensure that the one missing shock arrestor will not bo installed in any safety-related system.
