Report Date: September 12, 1974 Occurrence Date: March 12,19'/4 Facility: Browns Ferry Iiuclear Plant unit 1 The initial 10-dcy report left en open iten. The cause of the EGM control box failure was still under investigation at the tiuo of the report. The following information is intended to close out the open item.

Designation of Aunnrent Cr>nse of Occurrence Investigation has shown that the cause of failure of the HPCI EGM box was a defective transistor. This transistor gives an output signal to the governor actuator when an increase in speed is called for.

Corrective Action The trcn:1stor was replaced and the D3M cutputs verified. Calibration was verified n 4 the box considered repaired and available for use.
