Dear Mr. DeYoung:
In accordance with your letter dated December 3, 1973, the following information concerning hydraulic shock suppressors at the Millstone 2 plant is submitted.
There will be no Bergen-Patterson hydraulic shock suppressors (snubbers) installed in Millstone 2.
This plant will be equipped with the non-pressurized type of snubber as supplied by Power Piping and Crinnell utilizing seal materials of demonstrated compatibility with the hydraulic fluid and operating environment.
Modifications to snubbers which at present are equipped with seals which have not demonstrated this compatibility will be performed based upon replacement seal material availability and system start-up schadule.
Attached are the proposed Technical Specifications for the Millstone Unit 2 hydraulic snubber surveillance program.
