Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 Docket Nos. 50-269, -270, -287 Inspection Report 50-269, -270, -287/93-25 Revised Response to Notice of Violation
.)
By letter dated February 11, 1994, the NRC issued a Notice of Violation as described in the subject Inspection Report. 'Our response was submitted in a letter dated May 12, 1994.
In our response to violation 'B', we committed to performing an evaluation of the usage of Belzona under cyclic loading and LOCA conditions.
This commitment involved obtaining dynamic material property data which would be included in the evaluation.
l In a letter dated December 13, 1994, we informed you that this material property testing was not scheduled for completion i
until the end of February 1995 and that following completion of
.I the testing, the test results would have to be included in the evaluation.
Based on this schedule, the completion of-this commitment item was extended to May 12, 1995.
Duke is informing you'that it is necessary.to further extend this commitment completion date to December 31, 1995..However, through contracted resources, Duke continues to actively pursue completion of this commitment.
This commitment is being extended due to the significant. amount of contracted resources necessary - to complete all of the conditioning. (e.g., thermal cycling,. irradiation, and LOCA exposure) and subsequent laboratory testing on the belzona specimens.
This is the second. extension of this commitment from the initial committed completion date of 12/16/94.
If you have any questions regarding further details of Oconee's progress on this commitment ~, please contact David Nix.at (803) 885-3634.
