BELLEFONTE NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 - POTENTIAL DETERIORATION OF ISOPRENE GASimTS ON STANDBY DIESEL GENERATORS - BLRD-50-438/83-08, BLRD-50-439/83 SUPPLEE NTAL REPORT The subject deficiency was initially reported to NRC-0IE Inspector
-Linda Watson on December 17, 1982 in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e) as NCR BLN MBB 8209 This was followed by our final report dated January 24, 1983 and.by cur; supplemental report dated February 28, 1983 As discussed with NRC-0IE Inspector P. E. Fredrickson on December 21, 1983, the date of Decemb'er 28, 1983, for completion of corrective actions indicated in our final report on this matter would not be met for the unit 2 rework. The installation of the new-isoprene gaskets is not recommended by the vendor until immediately before operation of the generator. Due to the rescheduling of unit 2 activities, the unit 2 generators will not be tested until 1987.- Therefore, installation of the unit 2 gaskets should not take place until then. Unit 1 work is complete. The corrective action for unit 2 on this matter will be completed by March 26, 1987.
We consider 10 CFR Part 21 to be applicable to this deficiency.
