Monthly Report for Draldwood Unit 1 A.

Jiwignaly_n fJptIAting_E xperienc e Breldwood Unit 1 entered the month of August in routine operation. On August 4, load was reduced for maintenance on a reactor' coolant pump._ followlng the maintenance the unit returned to normal operations until August 11, when there was a load reduction to clean the condensate stralnors. On August 15, load was again reduced to inspect a water box for tube leakage.

Following the inspection the unit returned to normal operation until August 25, when a load reduction occursed for repairs on a turbine governor valve. Following repairs the unit operated routinely the remainder of the month.

3 91-003 AA CTR Reactor trip occurred due to a rapid power decrease brought on by the failure of the control rod drive system which resulted in numerous control rods being inserted into the core.

The cause was the failure of the 2 BD slave cycler binary counter circuit board which was replaced.
