Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
This confirms the telephone conversation at 1470 on November 10, 1983, between Mr. R. M. Poulk, Jr., Carolina Power & Light, and Mr. A. K. Hardin of your office, concerning an immediately reportable event por Technical Specification 6.9.1.Sc.
While performing inspections on the Unit No. 2 recirc piping required by IE Bulletin 83-02 and the NRC order to Carolina Power & Light Company dated August 26, 1983, it was determined that three welds had indications of IGSCC.
l The location and size of these indications are as follows:
Weld Length Depth System 2B32-22"-BM-1 1.2" 7%
Recirculation 2E11-20"-A2 0.95" 19%
RWCU Evaluation or corrective action for these three indications is still in progress and will be addressed in the 14-day report.
