Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Carolina Power and Light Company's (CP&L) December 1,1983 response to violation "B" of the subject report, stated that a supplemental response would be provided by January 31, 1984. The violation concerned not plugging two steam generator tubes in which a later review of the eddy current tapes indicated that the two tubes should have been plugged. Corrective action was to shut down the Plant and to inspect and plug the appropriate tubes.
The supplemental response was to discuss additional corrective actions to prevent recurrence of the root cause of the problem which involved the review process of the eddy current tapes. The supplemental response is not completed at this time. The supplemental response will be provided by February 29, 1984.
