Dear Mr. Wakild:

Brunswick Steam Electric Plant NPDES Permit No. NC0007064 During the period of January 16, 1984, to January 24, 1984, Unit 1 of the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant operated with one fine mesh screen in service. The screens were removed one at a time during this period to allow for repairs to th? chlorine solution lines in the pump bays. The chlorine lines had frozen and cracked as a result of extremely cold temperatures on December 25.

Repairs were completed on January 24, 1984, and both fine mesh screens on Unit 1 were returned to service.
