systems for Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
The G. H. Bettis Company has notified Pacific Air Products Co. of a problem with actuators suppliea to Pacific Air Products Co. These actuators are safety related, Quality Assurance Category I and are used in the reactor building roof ventilation system dampers for Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
Based on information provided by G. H. Bettis, the degradation of seals, due to a chemical reaction between the elastomer and lubricant, may prevent the actuator from operating the damper.
This problem was reported to the NRC by G. H. Bettis Company under 100FR21 on November 18, 1983.
This matter is under investigation and a final report will be submitted by March 16, 1984.
