Dear Mr. Thomas:
We are in receipt of your letter of June 10 outlining changes needed in the MSU Research Reactor Emergency Plan.
In light of the possible transfer of this facility to the U.S. Air Force, we request a postponement of the due date for changes to the Plan. A proposal to the Air Force to move the reactor to McClellan AFB, California was made in March and a decision on such a move is expected by Septembtr 30, 1983. If the transfer of the reactor is authorized, it would seem reasonable to continue interim operations with the existing plan. If the transfer is not authorized, we propose to have the required information approved by the Reactor Safety Committee and transmitted to you by Nov. 1, 1983.
Your consideration of this request would be greatly appreciated.
