McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370 Proposed Technical Specifications Changes Delta-T Incident Technical Specification Problem Areas (T.S. Table 2.2-1/4.2.3.5/ Table 4.3-1/ Table 3.3-1)
Centlemen:
hy letter dated May 9,1988, a proposed licerse amendment to Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9 and NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 respectively was submitted. The proposed amendments corrected several technical specification problem areas identified as a result of the evaluation of a gradual decrease in indicated Delta-T incident at McGuire Unit 2 and corrected-an unrelated action statement wording error. During a recent conference call with members of-my staff, the proposed revisions to Technical Specification 4.2.3.5 was discussed.
Duke Power is. presently conducting a design study to evaluate alternate methods of determining reactor coolant system flow rate in lieu of the precision heat balance measurement of Technical Specification 4.2.3.5.
Upon completion of this design study, it is likely that changes to this specification will be required.
Accordingly, Duke Power is hereby withdrawing its amendment request to Technical Specification 4.2.3.5 as submitted 'u the May 9, 1988 letter.
Any future changes to this specification will be pursued upon completion of the above design study.
